The proverbial "fat lady" will begin to sing on March 8th, at the annual underwriter's dinner for the Houston Grand Opera's Opera Ball 2000. The tented affair with a Old World Opera motif will be held at the extraordinary home of the equally extraordinary Francie and Mike Willis. Catered by Tony's.....at home (but of course), guests will be entertained by KT Sullivan and Mark Nadler. And did you know that KT Sullivan, who is the sister of Mike Sullivan, will be the featured entertainment at the Metropolitan Opera Ball in New York? Among other dinner attractions will be some of the auction items, such as a Mercedez Benz CLK 320, and a Cynthia Bach one-of-a-kind ring of platinum, white pearls and diamonds, designed especially for the ball. After all if you will be driving a spiffy car, you can't exactly wear a mood ring, can you? So who will be there? Who do you think, crème de la crème naturally; members of the Opera Ball Committee, including honorees Pat and Fred Burns, chairs Francie and Mike Willis, evening hosts Jennifer and Mike Sullivan, Cindi and Dr. Franklin Rose, Lynn and Bill Guggolz, Carolyn Farb, the underwriters, and General Director David Gockley.
Not exactly a backyard Bar-B-Q, tent and all. Yes, indeed it will be smashing soiree, but nothing like the main event, the grand of the Grand, the Opera Ball 2000, where on March 8th,2000 (mark your calendar and get out the checkbook) the aforementioned "fat lady" will really belt it out.

The Symphony Rocks....
Those of you who think that the symphony is a great way to catch up on your nap time or attend just to humor the spouse and keep the peace in the family, will discover that there is a lot more to it. On April 6, 2000, Houston Symphony Partners will present Rockin' at Rockefeller Hall. Chairs Robyn Howard, Martha Burger and Jana Phillips are a buzz to finalize the event. Formerly called Mad as a March Hare Symphony Surplus Salvage Spring Cleaning Clearance Sale Party, the affair is in its third year. Now, does that sound like a boring thing? I think not. Get your $20 bill ready ($25.00 at the door) and get ready to rock on with the tubas and harps.

Need A Lift?
No pun intended (well, maybe), but ladies and yes, gentleman, it's time for a little education. Cosmetic surgery, which is fast becoming a favorite pastime to many, if not approached with some degree of enlightenment, may produce less than desirable or expected results to say the least. To the rescue comes the renown and fabulous L. Fabian Worthing III, M.D., plastic surgeon to such beauties as.......(oh sure! like we're gonna tell?) and he will tell you all you want to know and perhaps few things you don't, at An Evening Seminar of Cosmetic Surgery Possibilities. Learn all the facts, figures and factoids, enlarge your horizons, lift your consciousness, rejuvenate your spirit and stay abreast of the new scientific developments. The Conference (exhibits and all) will take place on March 23, 2000.
